| Estate++ Features Overview |
Estate++ allows information to be securely shared on a "need to know" basis as independent slices of information. For example, a tax accountant needs access to tax returns. An attorney needs access to legal documents. An executor of an estate needs access to wills and trusts. A physician may need access to advanced medical directives. Key family members may need access to all information.
Your estate represents the compilation of all data for your account including uploaded documents, manually entered information, read-only users, and corporate partner connections.
Corporate Partners (such as attorneys, accountants, financial planners, physicians, or home inventory specialists) can have limited role-based file sharing abilities with your estate.
Slices of Information
Full access A full-access user is automatically created with your account that can add, delete, or change any information or documents associated with an estate.
Additional full-access users are usually created for a spouse or domestic partner.
Read-only Users who can retrieve information as a single PDF file and download any document.
You typically create Read-only users for key family members and the executor of an estate.
Single Use Direct links are created to download specific documents in any folder located within your estate. For safety purposes, direct links are made to expire within 1 hour, 4 hours, or 24 hours.
Medical Directives A special type of Read-only user who can only download documents from your estate designated as medical directives.
A health care professional must first register with Estate++ before you can connect them to your estate’s medical directives.
Legal Two-way file sharing between your estate and a corporate partner such as an estate planning attorney using the Legal Dropbox.
The Legal Dropbox typically contains legal documents including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
A legal advisor must first register with Estate++ before you can connect them to your estate’s Legal Dropbox.
Tax Two-way file sharing between your estate and a corporate partner such as a tax accountant using the Tax Dropbox.
The Tax Dropbox typically contains tax returns and other tax related documents.
A tax advisor must first register with Estate++ before you can connect them to your estate’s Tax Dropbox.
Financial Two-way file sharing between your estate and a corporate partner such as a financial planner using the Financial Dropbox.
The Financial Dropbox typically contains quarterly account statements and financial plans.
A financial advisor must first register with Estate++ before you can connect them to your estate’s Financial Dropbox.
Insurance Two-way file sharing between your estate and a corporate partner such as a home inventory specialist using the Insurance Dropbox.
The Insurance Dropbox typically contains photographs of personal property, appraisals, and other documents related to insurance claims.
A home inventory specialist must first register with Estate++ before you can connect them to your estate’s Insurance Dropbox.
Legacy
Distributing information based on an event, such as incapacity or death, is known as a contingent bequest.
Estate++ can fulfill contingent bequests in 3 different ways.
1) When you create a read-only or full-access user, it can be specified that a confirmation email, containing instructions on how to register with Estate++, be sent once death or incapacity has been verified.
2) Notes and Instructions can be emailed to selected individuals after verification of death or incapacity.
3) A direct link to an uploaded document can be emailed to selected individuals after verification of death or incapacity.
To help safeguard information, the direct link expires after 30 days.
Document Associations
Organizing materials manually may prove tedious. For example, if you have statements for multiple financial assets, lumping them together in a single folder makes it hard to find a statement for a specific asset.
Associating statements directly with each financial asset provides a deeper level of organization.
Documents can be directly associated with a specific bank account, financial asset, real estate holding, vehicle, personal property, cemetery, or funeral home. Associations are made while updating each specific entity.
Hardware File sharing and synchronization between your estate and multiple computers using the Local Dropbox. Typically this is used to share files between your laptop and your home computer. The Local Dropbox user agent must be installed on each computer.
Software File uploading between your estate and a software product using the Application Programming Interface (API). Software vendors must be registered with Estate++ before they can use the API in a production environment.
